Picasa Web Albums: Introducing name tags

If nothing else, this face recognition for name tagging is a lot of fun, and also very useful for organising tags on your photos. Try it out!

Air traffic

A group of budding scientists have traced every flight in the world over a 24-hour period and plotted them onto an impressive video map. See full story on sky news article at http://url.ie/107u for more info.

This is one of the funniest videos I've seen on youtube, maybe because it's so close to the truth, you have to laugh!

Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross Abuse Andrew Sachs via Phone 1

I found it difficult to listen to this, not that I was offended or anything, more I just thought the two guys were just being utter idiots to make these prank calls on Jonathan's radio show.

Dire Straits • Money for nothing (1984)

Look at them yoyos, that's the way you do it, you play the guitar on the MTV! This video still has it after 24 years! It's hard to believe I know so many people born after this was made.

Thomas Clarke tower being taken down brick by brick

Watch out for the night activity at this tower as it gets deconstructed room by room over a two week period. Watch out for foggy nights and a market in the foreground on one of the days!

A writer's life

This is the reality of what a writer's environment looks like!! In Ireland replace coffee pot with teapot, but otherwise, everything else is the same.

Funny Bud Light beer commercial - Good Dog

Riding a Segway up the World's Steepest Street, Baldwin St

It can even go up a very steep hill. I've been to Baldwin St., it's pretty tough!

Segway Commercial

This is something that will take off big time over the coming years. Electric powered, uses gyros to keep balanced. Range is from 20km+ depending on which model you buy. 450mpg equivalent. Rumours are that it's priced at around 6,000 euro in Ireland.

Tony Blair being bovvered by Lauren (Catherine Tate)

This is fantastic, done by Blair for charity only a few months before he left number 10.

Big Brother 9 - Irish Dancing Task

What happens when you take 15 people who don't particularly like each other too much and ask them to learn a bit of the Riverdance routine in just 2 days? Absolute farce, but hillarious farce is what you get. Even the drummers could have made a more credible attempt at the two short drumming sequences! Watch for the dancers starting the dance before the music itself, and watch how some of the dancers are just jumping up and down!!

Des Bishop Dies in Cross Community Show in Armagh

This is fantastic... Des Bishop did an excellent gig in Armagh, Northern Ireland, and at the end he said he normally finishes with the Irish language version of his "Jump around" rap, called "Leimigi thart". The audience demanded it, but he added a twist. He asked a member of the audience with a camera to record it and upload it with the title "Des Bishop Dies in Cross Community Show", and asked the audience not to react to his performance in any way to make it look like the gig was a flop. He pulled it off very well... in fact he did it twice just to make sure the camera got it okay. 10 seconds after this the audience was cheering and applauding. Fantastic!

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Dani California

This has got to be the Chilis at their best when it comes to music video. Look closely for all the homages! I just can't get bored with this one!

Honda advert

Isn't it nice when things just work? Watch out for the fan blowing itself across the room until it unplugs itself!

Muppet Show - Chocolate Moose

You're on a night out... you've possibly had a bit too much to drink. It's now dessert time and you see a chocolate mouse lolly on the menu, and you find yourself uncontrolably drawn to it. Now is not a good time to ask the waitress a. if there is a chef and b. if he's Swedish. And even if you do that, it's definitely a bad idea to start singing this song!!!

If Smirnhof made dog food!!!!!

She had beautiful, long, golden hair... all over her body. She was a great kisser too, except she did have a tendency to slobber.... then one day, I catch her in another guy's basket. I wasn't going to argue, he was a boxer. All she said was, what'd you expect? I'm a bitch!! -- Classic tv advert

Lunar Eclipse 2008

Can't be bothered staying up late tonight to see the total lunar eclipse? Then check this out, as it gives you an idea of what it would look like in the sky, accelerated of course, as the total phase lasts 51 minutes. The outlook is bleak in Ireland, we've have several clear nights in a row, and now overcast conditions have returned, so we may see nothing at all!

Mock The Week - Lines you'd never hear in a James Bond movie

Classic "Mock the Week" game round where 6 comedians give one liners on a particular subject! It's a pity Dara as host doesn't get to contribute some gags in these rounds!

24: The Unaired 1994 Pilot

Why 24 would never have worked as a TV show in the mid '90s.....

Am I bovvered ? Tate and the Queen

Skip ahead to 04:00 in this clip. Am I bothered? Is one bothered? Queen at 2 o'clock. Catherine Tate's Lauren is very funny the first couple of times you see her, but then it gets a bit predictable as it's more or less the same act each show. Except for now, in this one, she interacts with the Queen of England at a live performance! Classic.

Frozen Grand Central

Over 200 improv performers got together and for a 5 minute period, they all froze in position in the main concourse of Grand Central station in New York. Excellent performance, bewildered crowds, and a round of applause when they started moving again!!!

Diana Ross - Upside Down (Michael Jackson)

This song made it very easy for me to wake in the wee hours of the morning recently, the cloudiness of an early rise without caffeine made it fade away in a few moments, but I found myself humming it later that night. Michael Jackson adds his own unique flair to this clip.

manamana

The defining video clip from the Muppet Show, and worthy of first place on my youtube blog!
